It’s called“behavioural simulation” and is the new e-learning training solution.
The novelty consists in the fact that the learner learns by acting in a virtual context identical to that of the work reality of reference: the subject has a mission, builds a path to follow and this path changes according to choices made. The learner thus becomes the main actor in her/his learning path.
Everything learned is permanently interiorized by the individual. The high added value of behavioural simulation derives from:
• dynamicity (open development of paths)
• interactivity (user is not passive)
• involvement (stimulates emotional participation)
• realism (environment and characters simulate a likely reality)
• applicability (everything learnt is translatable to the real world)
• replayability (the simulation process can be repeated again and again, with changing decision-making paths and results)
